JAMES MACHARIA – Group Managing Director

Mr Macharia holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Nairobi, and an MBA from Henley Management College in the United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales) as well as a Certified Public Accountant (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya).

Mr Macharia joined NIC Bank Group in April 2005, from the African Banking Corporation (ABC) Group. He had been Managing Director of ABC Tanzania since 2001. Between 1995 and 2001 he was Managing Director of two other ABC Group businesses in Zambia. Prior to that he worked for Deloitte Haskins & Sells in both London and Nairobi, as well as Standard Chartered Bank Kenya.

ALAN DODD – Executive Director, Corporate Banking

Mr. Dodd has a BA(Hons) in Economics from Portsmouth Univerity,UK. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He has extensive regional and international banking experience, covering East and Southern Africa, Middle East and the Far East. He joined NIC Bank in January 2006 as Head of Corporate Banking, and was appointed to the NIC Board on 22nd February 2006.

SANKUL MANDAVIA – Director, Treasury

Before his appointment he was the Assistant General Manager Institutional Banking and Liability Management at Commercial Bank of Africa. He also served as Head of Treasury at First American Bank of Kenya. He holds a BSc. Business Administration from United States International University(USIU).

DAVID M KIAMBI – Director, Human Resources

Before his appointment he was the Group HR Manager at BAT Kenya. He has a B.Sc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nairobi and an MBA-Employee Relations from the University of Leicester-UK.

JAMES WANYIKA – Director, Credit Risk

Mr. James Wanyika is the Director of Credit Risk at NIC Bank. Prior to his appointment, he was the Credit Officer and Risk Management Trainer for East Africa at Standard Chartered Bank. Mr. Wanyika has also worked as Head of Large Domestic Corporates at Standard Chartered Bank and Vice President in the Corporate Division Citibank NA.

Edgar Kalya – Retail Banking Director

Mr. Kalya has 17 years experience in banking having worked for Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Central Bank of Kenya. Prior to his appointment, he was the acting Consumer Director in Barclays Bank of Kenya. He has held several other leadership roles in both BBK and SCB in the last 10 years of his career. Mr. Kalya has a BED Sc. degree from Egerton University Njoro, has completed an Advanced Management Program from Strathmore Business School and is currently undertaking an MBA from the University of Nairobi.
